KM 150,417 (or 40,000 km since HK)

 

 

Km 150,417
On December 11th, our speedometer read Km 150,417 : 40,000 km or 8 and a half months since leaving Hong Kong. That day we were heading towards Turkey's capital Ankara. Having spent the last 2 weeks without seeing the sun and having witnessed 11 consecutive days of rain in Istanbul as well as a strong snowstorm, we were wondering what kind of bleak surroundings might appear at that particular spot. We were also hoping to get a picture with snow but the closer we got to Ankara, the lower the altitude.

 

 
Coming from the Ottoman-style village of Safranbolu, we rejoined the Istanbul-Ankara motorway. A few km before we reached 150,417 this is what our motorway looked like !

 

 
You won't believe us but just one km before the 150,417 mark, the sun came out and we saw blue skies for the first time since weeks ! From the pictures below, you'll believe that the whole of our journey has been blessed with sun. Not so !
